FAQ

  • What does TEC stand for?
    • TEC stands for “Teens Encounter Christ”.  If you decide to make a TEC weekend, you will have the opportunity to encounter Christ in many ways including the Sacraments, personal prayer, and contact with others seeking Christ.
  • Who can make a TEC?
    • Anyone can make a TEC as long as they are between 16-24 years old by the time the weekend begins. Exceptions can be made if you are older than 24 and would like to attend a TEC Retreat.
  • When does the retreat begin and end?
    • Participants are asked to arrive at 9 am on the first day and the retreat begins at 9:30 am.  It ends around 4:30 pm on the third day.
  • What if I need to arrive late or leave early?
    • To fully experience the retreat, participants are asked to arrive on time and to remain on site for the duration of the weekend.  If this is not possible, it would be best to select another weekend.
  • What do I need to bring?
    • Mostly, you need to bring yourself open and ready for a new experience.  As far as “stuff” please bring casual clothes for the weekend and some nice clothing for Mass.  Please bring your own bedding or a sleeping bag, pillows, towels, soap, and personal toiletries.  We will mail you a packing list the week before the retreat.
  • Why won’t people tell me about the weekend?
    • A TEC retreat is an experience.  And like other experiences, it means different things to different people and is often very hard to explain.  Your friends and family may just want you to experience the weekend in your own way.
  • What if I am not Catholic?
    • While TEC is rooted in the Catholic faith, non-Catholics are always welcomed to participate.
  • Will I miss a day of school?
    • Unless the weekend you plan on attending is scheduled on a three-day weekend (with Monday or Friday being a day off), you will miss a day of school.  We would ask that you contact the administrative office at your school to notify them of your absence.
  • Where is the retreat held?
    • All retreats are held at St. Michael Catholic Church.  The address is 337 East Hurley St. West St. Paul, MN 55118. We will mail out directions the week before the retreat.
